HUJAN pada lewat petang seolah-olah memberi rahmat buat skuad negara
untuk menikmati malam pesta gol apabila membelasah Nepal, 4-0 pada
saingan Kumpulan A Pestabola Merdeka edisi ke-40 di Stadium Majlis
Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, malam tadi.
Kemenangan itu sekali gus menamatkan kerisauan jurulatih, B Sathianathan
mengenai tahap kemampuan anak buahnya selepas menyaksikan persembahan
hambar ketika perlawanan persahabatan menentang Pakistan, minggu lalu.
"Saya berpuas hati dengan corak permainan mereka malam ini walaupun
beraksi dalam keadaan padang basah. Pemain menunjukkan permainan baik
daripada segi mengawal bola.
"Daripada keseluruhan permainan, memang ada peningkatan cuma berlaku
kesilapan terutamanya di bahagian kiri, tapi keadaan itu berubah pada
separuh masa kedua.
"Kalau kita lihat corak permainan dengan keadaan padang basah, sukar
untuk membuat ramalan. Dalam keadaan seperti ini, terlalu sukar bagi
kami mengarahkan pemain supaya beraksi dengan baik," katanya.
Menurutnya, anak buahnya masih dapat bertahan walaupun diasak
bertalu-talu terutamanya pada separuh masa pertama.
"Mereka (Nepal) sangat rajin. Berlari sana sini hingga memberi masalah
kepada kami. Tapi, keadaan tidak sama seperti separuh masa kedua kerana
pemain negara dapat menstabilkan corak permainan," katanya.
Bagi penyerang tengah, Mohd Amirulhadi Zainal, kemenangan itu mencetus
kebangkitan semangat semua pemain menjelang perlawanan kedua menentang
Sierra Leone yang menduduki ranking 133 dunia, esok.
"Kami masih menunjukkan permainan yang baik meskipun diberikan tentangan
sengit oleh Nepal. Kerjasama rakan sepasukan cukup baik untuk
menghadiahkan kemenangan pertama buat kami.
"Walaupun saya tidak menjaringkan gol, sekurang-kurangnya saya dapat
membantu rakan merealisasikan impian meraih kemenangan," katanya.
Malaysia memulakan jaringan gol pada minit ke-20 menerusi rembatan Indra
Putra Mahyudin yang menyambut bola hantaran lintang Amirulhadi. Gol
kedua pula hadir menerusi Mohd Safee Sali yang melakukan lipatan gunting
bola hantaran kapten pasukan, Mohd Shukor Adan pada m-25.
Mohd Safee terus melebarkan jaringan pada m-48 selepas menanduk masuk
hantaran Indra Putra dan empat minit kemudian, giliran Mohd Khyril
Muhymeen Zambri yang baru seminit dibawa masuk melengkapkan kemenangan
4-0.
Sementara itu, jurulatih Nepal, Krishna Bahadur Thapa, berkata kekalahan
itu berpunca daripada keadaan padang basah yang membuatkan gerakan anak
buahnya tersangkut ketika cuba mencari jaringan.
"Bagi Malaysia, semua itu OK. Mereka sudah biasa beraksi di padang
seperti ini tetapi tidak bagi kami. Sebab itulah kami tewas walaupun
tahap permainan kelihatan sama," katanya.
