PETALING JAYA, March 3 (Bernama) -- Players and officials of two teams playing in the M-League are not insured by their respective teams revealed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
FAM vice president Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said Police (PDRM) who play in the Super League and Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bharu (MBJB) who feature in the Premier League had not insured their players and officials.
"We have decided to give both teams until March 13, to settle the matter, as they should have done the necessary requirements by Jan 1," he told Bernama after chairing a competition committee meeting at Wisma FAM, on Tuesday.
Che Mat said if the two teams failed to do so, they would be barred from playing in the M-League and all their matches declared null and void.
"It will cost about RM100,000 to insure (23 players) and RM120,000 for officials to be insured," he said.
The meeting also upheld the fine and suspension meted out by the FAM disciplinary board to Felda United coach Reduan Abdullah (RM4,000 and one year suspension) and RM7,000 fine handed out to Perlis coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim, he said.
Meanwhile, Che Mat said the FAM Cup competition which was hanging in the balance due to lack of participation, would go on as planned and start on April 19, after eight teams confirmed their participation.
